Native American Presentation
The first graders at Hemlock Creek enjoyed a visit from the Oneida Nation Museum this past week. They learned about corn husk dolls, traditional clothing, music, and more. The kids enjoyed it very much and had lots of good questions. This visit coordinates with our social studies curriculum that includes the study of a variety of different cultures. Please enjoy a few pictures from the visit below. :)

Netbook Cart
This week during math we tried out the set of netbooks (mini laptops) from the library. It took us awhile to get them all up and running but the kids really seemed enjoy them. They are getting good at using their computer login information and navigating to websites. Below are some pictures of our first time with this cart.

All About Me Stories
This week during writing we have been working on writing informational texts about ourselves. We pre-wrote six facts about ourselves and worked on an introduction and conclusion. In class today we used an app called Educreations to turn our pre-writing into a video book. The kids did a great job and you will love their stories. They can be found on each of their student blog pages under writing. I also included a couple examples below. I hope you enjoy!

Meet Ms. Krause
Hello! My name is Brittni Krause (Ms. Krause) and I am from
the small town of Mishicot, WI where I lived with my parents, older brother, and
twin sister. I went to the University of
Wisconsin Stevens Point for special and regular education, but fell in the love
with the Green Bay/ De Pere area. This is why I wanted to complete my student
teaching in this location. I currently live in De Pere and once I complete
my student teaching I would love to find a full-time teaching position in the
area. I will be in Mrs. Lambrecht’s classroom until March 28th and I
am very excited to begin working with your children. I will learn from them just
as much as they will learn from me. If you have any questions for me please do
not hesitate to ask, you can contact me at bkrau180@uwsp.edu.
I look forward to spending the next few months with your wonderful 1st
graders!
Sincerely,
Ms. Krause

This Weeks Stories and Games
Recently our schools amazing technology teacher introduced us to a website that allows you to turn images into interactive pictures and links. After taking some time to think about how I could use this in the classroom I decided to try out creating images for you at home to access our Journey's reading materials easily from home. Using this link you will not have to input the information that was sent home a few weeks ago. You will also not have to search for this weeks activities. Please let me know in the comments section or an e-mail if you use the information below. If I get a good response I will continue to create them for each lesson. Some lessons may also include links to Youtube videos related to the lessons. :)
This weeks stories are on pages 106 (The Big Race) and 126 (The Olympic Games).
