Daily Five Update

Our daily five time is going great! The kids do a fantastic job making choices and working the whole time. We have added the use of an iPhone for QR codes, iPads, computer games, book shopping, and word work.

iPad Math Lesson

Throughout the year we will be doing many lessons and activities on the classroom and school iPads. Yesterday was our first day with the school iPad cart and we learned how to use the app educreations. Please check out your child's work by clicking the student work tab and then clicking the educreations link. They are saved by the kiddo's first names. We have been working hard all week creating a video showing how we do things at school. This video includes many things around the school and in our classroom. We will use this video throughout the year to remind us what a Phantastic Phantom looks like. Please enjoy!

The Golden Spatula!!

I am pleased to inform you that our class won the GOLDEN SPATULA at lunch today! To earn the golden spatula the kiddos had to sit on their bottoms, clean up after themselves, keep their tables quiet. They are so proud of themselves and so am I!!! Below you will see a picture of the golden spatula. Because we won we earned 5 minutes of extra recess today.

Our First Week

Welcome to our 1st blog post of the year! I wanted to share a few of the things we did and learned about in class last week. We started the week by getting to know each other using our me in a nut shell bags. The kids loved sharing and found things that they have in common. We also started to work on our classroom reading procedures called the Daily Five. So far we have learned about read to self and picking good fit books. Later this week we will be learning about read to someone and working on writing. Below you will find some pictures showing the kids practicing read to self. We are up to reading for 8 1/2 minutes without stopping.  Our goal for tomorrow is 9 minutes!

We have also started working on our school behavior or  PBIS (for more info see website page). The kiddos have learned about behavior on the playground, in the lunch room, in the hallways, in the bathrooms,
and in the classroom. Below you will find pictures of some of the things we have done.
